Catoex is Mexico’s leading coffee producer and marketer.

It is based in the city of Córdoba – a city with a rich history and a long tradition of growing coffee in Mexico.

The challenge of this project was to develop a new bottle. To do so, it needed to offer a front panel with a better visual presence at points of sale and a more modern style.

The development solution was to create the glass coffee jar using architectural elements typical of the city. In other words, the arches (in Spanish, portales). They are present in the design of the lid and labels. The image of the arches gave the new packaging an associated perception of identity, solidity and quality that stands the test of time.

The development of the glass bottle is also strategic. We designed a new glass bottle shape, wider and shallower, to replace the old cylindrical bottle, thus gaining more presence on the shelves. With more frontal area, the new glass bottle has improved its impact at the point of sale, providing greater visibility for the brand and labels.

The new format is also more ergonomic, making it easier to handle. In addition, the lid fits perfectly on the base, which guarantees good stacking.

Thanks to the development of the glass coffee jar, the company has seen a considerable increase in sales.
