Medical field packaging design requires great responsability and a profound technical and normative know how. Furthermore, creation process are guided by different parameters than the ones used for products destined to points of sale.
We were comissioned to develop package design for Nano Eagle endovascular stent, comprising a thermoformed tray in sterilizable PET and a cardboard box.
The package´s format facilitates handling of the stent. Moreover, it`s reduced size improves storage.
It is important to notice that hospital products used only in surgery rooms need to follow strict norms defined by Anvisa. For example, the products need to be protected by surgical grade paper. Only the surgeon or his assistant are allowed to remove this package protection when performing surgery. This way the endovascular stent remains sterilized until implanted in the patient´s body.
We also developed the Easy Nano Endoluminal stent. This stent is used in aortic aneurysm cases.
As in the previous project, we had to carefully study the product´s function and usage environment.
The unique character of this packaging design is it´s size and singular format. Apart from a thermoformed tray sealed with surgical grade paper and an external tranparent tube case, the ends are sealed by labels that facilitate opening and closing of the product. Thin and long, Easy Nano Stent is difficult to store. We solved this peculiarity by creating a package that can be hang on hooks.
